She Cried That Day

Film Design
Graphics & Motion Design

A feature documentary tracking a sister’s fight for answers after the murder of Dione Thomas. Through one family’s story, the film confronts the gaps and institutional breakdowns behind the MMIWR crisis.

The design language is built around the family being forced to investigate on their own, assembling evidence, memory, and loss into something the institutions failed to hold.

Custom Typography

Given the look and style we had created for the film, the typogaphy called for a more intimate approach—as if it was written in a diary. We created a custom handwritten font to be used for all lower thirds and locators.

Archival Treatment

To elevate the film beyond just showing archival, we created an in-depth living, breathing diary system.

This allowed multiple photos and vertical videos to be presented with sophisticated camera zooms and pans—creating energy and emotion throughout the film’s archival-heavy sequences.
